Here is what people are talking about today...
Today is a day of Congratulations!
Michael Phelps won his eighth gold medal in Beijing on Sunday. He broke the record previously held by Mark Spitz from the 1972 Munich Olympics. Congratulations Mike! He says he can't wait to get back home to his buddies and eat junk food. Mark Spitz said he was a little insulted that he was not invited to watch the history making events at the Olympics, but he is still very proud of Mike. He has a record of 14 gold medals in total. Wow!
Also, Ellen & Portia did married on Saturday evening. Congrats to them! Portia wore a beautiful pastel pink tool Zac Posen gown. They both looked luminous in all of the photos I've seen. The couple wed at their Beverly Hills home before 19 guests that included Ellen's mother, and Portia's mother flew in from Australia.
Madonna celebrated her 50th birthday big time in London at nightclub Volstead. She & her husband Guy Ritchie (39)were seen arriving at her party and looked very cozy in spite of all of the press that her marriage has gotten lately. It has been reported that Ritchie hired graffiti artist Bansky to do a portrait of his wife that cost $900,000. The Material Girl finished off her birthday weekend by hitting the gym on Sunday. I guess she is getting ready for her Sticky & Sweet tour that begins August 23. Way to rock 50 Madge!Congrats to Ed McMahon who does not have to move out of his home. Thanks to Donald Trump, Mr. McMahon will not have to vacate due to foreclosure. It is said that he will lease from Trump who purchased the home for an undisclosed amount. Trump says that al
though he does not know McMahon personally, he felt inclined to reach out to help. We knew Trump has a big wallet, but who knew he had such a big heart.
Our last congratulations goes to Batman, Christian Bale. He has been officially cleared of assault charges stemming from an altercation with his mother and sister in Europe during the premier of Dark Knight. I am glad for him. I love his work, and he actually did justice to the Pat Bateman character in Bret Easton Ellis's American Psycho. After investigating, police said that there was insufficient evidence for prosecution. We are glad to hear that. We are all such a fan of the movie and it was sad that this series of events put such a damper on such a good movie.Tip of the Day:
